Other then drugstore brands, you can still recommend them. My skin is dark so bold colors look great on me. But a lot of lines use glitter in their brighter and bolder colors. I'm pretty sure a bunch of people are going to say M.A.C.
They do have a lot of eye shadow minus the glitter.
I'm not sure if they last long though, but I have heard that they have.
If you want to make sure it stays on forever, definitely buy an eyeshadow primer like Urban Decays Primer Potion which you can find at Sephora. Even using a little bit of liquid foundation or concealer can work as a primer!
I read the other answers and all agree M.A.C. is great. I worked for Bare Escentuals and I still use a majority of their shadows in my freelance work. Fantastic but a lot have glitter or as they say glimmer. I just fell in love with the new formulation of Clarins shadows. Their colors are vibrant. Long wearing. Can be used wet or dry. They are creamy so they don't crease. I have been using them and really am impressed. I'll give you a link but the best way to actually decide is visit a counter. Start talking to an associate there and ask to play. They will love it. Enjoy!!! ( Try Icy Tourquise and Sweet Melon. They are FIERCE and look great together!!)

okay go for MAC or L'oreal HIP eyeshadow... look for matte ones without glitter, there are tons. Also look for eye crayons. Try sephora, they have a new line called Sephora Piink and its all cheap makeup but a zillion colors. Check it. =)
also check out bare minerals, when you wet the colors a bit they can be intense and very pretty! If you go to the store they'll do a demo for you and find what works good/you like

I believe MAC makeup have bold glitterless colors. A friend of mine used to wear a really popping plum color, it was glitterless. I don't think MAC is cheap either.
GOSH do great colour palletts. i have most of them but my fav is the one with blue, green, yellow and a paler blue.
M.A.X or Hip(and yes i did mean to put MAX) ..they come in VERY bright shades but have no glitter in them.Hope i helped.

i have blue eyes too. What i find looks really good and brightens em is first use a little bit of white as a base then i but like a gold color on then i put a light brown on the insides then some gold underneath on the bottom of the eye

so for brown eyes, you want a beige, brown, and neutral tans.

if there is a little tinge of green in your brown eyes, some greens will work just as well, but try to aviod light greens, go for deep, or dramatic.

I would wear some neutrals - browns and creams. I find that as long as they aren't too pigmented and bold they can go with pretty much anything.
Here's for sure. Don't wear FUCHSIA OR WHITE. It will look horrible! I say choose between brown %26amp; bronze, or a smokey gray.

I certainly wouldn't wear black eyeshadow, not for a wedding and not with a pink dress. Grey is your best bet - a dark taupe sort of a shade. Something with bit of shimmer to it will glam it up a bit but if you keep the colour relatively neutral then it doesn't look too OTT. Alternatively, a dark brown could work really well with your colouring . . . more of a natural look.
If you wanted a bit of colour then a dark green can look really good, and it will complement the pink of the dress rather than clashing. If in doubt colour-wise, go for dark rather than bright - it's basically just a twist on ';smokey eyes';.
I'd probably focus on the eyeliner (a bit of a flick always works wonders and if you use liquid eyeliner just on your top lids then you're less likely to have it streaking down your face when you blub as she reaches the altar) and just use a natural colour to add definition rather than choose a noticeably bright shade. And I say this as a woman who is pathologically obsessed with brightly-coloured eyeshadows ;)myspace code

if there is a little tinge of green in your brown eyes, some greens will work just as well, but try to aviod light greens, go for deep, or dramatic.
and not all shades of colors would work too, so maybe you should start trying out which one works bestt.

I certainly wouldn't wear black eyeshadow, not for a wedding and not with a pink dress. Grey is your best bet - a dark taupe sort of a shade. Something with bit of shimmer to it will glam it up a bit but if you keep the colour relatively neutral then it doesn't look too OTT. Alternatively, a dark brown could work really well with your colouring . . . more of a natural look.
If you wanted a bit of colour then a dark green can look really good, and it will complement the pink of the dress rather than clashing. If in doubt colour-wise, go for dark rather than bright - it's basically just a twist on ';smokey eyes';.
I'd probably focus on the eyeliner (a bit of a flick always works wonders and if you use liquid eyeliner just on your top lids then you're less likely to have it streaking down your face when you blub as she reaches the altar) and just use a natural colour to add definition rather than choose a noticeably bright shade. And I say this as a woman who is pathologically obsessed with brightly-coloured eyeshadows ;)

Personally, whenever i want 2 wear red lipstick i like 2 use liquid eyeliner on the top (only) n mascara. The liquid eyeliner looks best when done in a fine line that starts 4rm very thin 2 thicker by the end of the eye with an elegant curv.
If you are going to wear red lipstick I only recommend wearing it after 6. The BEST way would be a dramatic smokey eye. red lips, smokey eyes, and loose curls. It's so 1920's and glam!!!

Personally, whenever i want 2 wear red lipstick i like 2 use liquid eyeliner on the top (only) n mascara. The liquid eyeliner looks best when done in a fine line that starts 4rm very thin 2 thicker by the end of the eye with an elegant curv.
If you are going to wear red lipstick I only recommend wearing it after 6. The BEST way would be a dramatic smokey eye. red lips, smokey eyes, and loose curls. It's so 1920's and glam!!!

I use a primer called ';Spackle'; by Laura Geller. It's actually a 3-way primer kit, with basic spackle, lip spackle and *eye spackle*. It's truly an awesome product and I'm never without it... It's the first product I've ever found that truly maintains-- actually locks in-- your blusher, lip and eye shadow colors. And... the price is reasonable for a 3 product item.

Lastly, you might try some of the new ';wet/dry'; shadows that are really hot right now. Applying the shadow -wet- really lays down a good color base. It's the only shadow I use now.
Also, keep in mind that when makeup colors fade or don't remain ';true';, it's usually more an issue of our *skin* than a product deficiency. Basically, it's just being absorbed into our pores. Be sure to keep your skin super clean, and go easy on the moisturizer before you apply your makeup! Keep a pack of rice blotting papers (you can find them in the drugstore) in your make up bag for quick touch-ups during the day. That's sure to help.

okay trust me this will work!!!!! its not expensive and its so easy... i had the same problem as yours....... i had bought a cheap foundation that was too white on me so i decided to use it on my eyelids to make my shadow POP and thats exactly what it did!... so anywho it started running out and i couldnt find that foundation anymore so i decided to buy a new one from a drug store its from Loreal DE-CREASE Eyeshadow Base unfortunatly it wasnt what i hoped it would be it dryed out on my lids and made them look wrinkley.. i did not want to have it go to waste so i experimented with it and finally got the look i was hoping for... b4 you put the shadow base on apply a small amount of NIVEA creme on your lid after that use the wand from your base and use one layer ..not to much .. after that apply your shadow then blend your shadow...make sure u apply the nivea and base on one eye, apply the shadow, and then to the other eye
if you get good quality makeup, like chanel or dior, the pigments are truer, so they show up better. or you could just put more on

i always have that problem with the extremely glitzy colors. i've found that if you se a bigger brush it will brush on a thinner layer. try using brushes from Sonia Kashuk, they make like a million sizes and they are really soft. also, you should start near the tear duct and go lightly as you get to the end of the eyelashes. hope this advice helps you!

I have both the Coastal Scents 88 Palette and the 120 palette and the 120 palette is better because it have more colors and also is easier to blend. It sounds pretty cheap and bad for your skin, but as long as you wash it off completely. You will be fine.

If you do a green eye, keep the cheeks fresh and neutral with a peach or light pink cheek, and the lips fairly nude, or a sheer cherry color for a nigh time look. Well, first off you don't want to wear green eyeshadow if you dress is green. If your dress is lime green you need to use pinks on your face. Red (pink is a ';red'; color) and green are opposite each other on the color wheel which means they compliment each other. If you wear green eyeshadow, your eyes will not shine like they should on your prom night! :)

light pink - not too bright but just enough pink color!
I would just wear a gloss with maybe a nude color under it. If you wear i color it would not look good at all..

Well, first off you don't want to wear green eyeshadow if you dress is green. If your dress is lime green you need to use pinks on your face. Red (pink is a ';red'; color) and green are opposite each other on the color wheel which means they compliment each other. If you wear green eyeshadow, your eyes will not shine like they should on your prom night! :)

Go with bold combinations. I love like lime green and royal blue, purple and yellow, red and purple, pink and dark green, etc.
For make up, I often use eyeshadow to line my eyes. Lets take the teal and hot pink idea. Use an aqua or light blueishgreen liner under your eyes along the lash line and on the upper lash line. Connect the two lines together at the outer corners of your eyes. a small little wing can also be done. Wet a thin angle brush and dip and mix in teal eyeshadow and trace over the line. Rewet it and go over as many times as needed to finish and get the desired shade. With a hot pink eyeshadow, sweep over your eyelid into the crease. Its better if the eyeliner is the shiny/sparkly/glittery color, but either is ok. On the upper part of your eye, brush a lighter pink, or if you're willing, a very light sweep of the teal. Along the brow bone right under your eyebrow, brush a white or very very light pink to create an exaggerated highlight. Use a smooth lipstick/blam/gloss but stay away from glitter and sparkly lips when using this eye technique so it doesnt counteract your statement with your eyes. You can use this with any color combo really. Good Luck!
A twist on the classic smoky eye is always fun, too.
Do a classic smoky eye with black or the darkest gray you have in the crease, then sweep a medium silvery gray over your lid. To add pizazz and a twist, use a dark purple, or any darker color, blended in the black in the crease.(or if its a lighter color, sweep it over the silverygrey on the lid.) Over the brow sweep a light silver and over the brow bone (right underneath your eyebrow, along the arch), use white as an exaggerated highlight. use black eyeliner and mascara that creates the wide-eyed look. Use minimal blush, a like pink to mauve and nude to light pink ligloss with a shine. You could also experiment with bright eyeliners on the waterline.

Usually, if you want a more wearable look, definitely use ONE bright color, and the rest neutral colors. There's so many ways:

Besides Mac?? I've been wanting to try some new eyeshadows but I don't know whats worth my money and whats not. I like very bright vibrant colors, or dark colors that's don't look worn out. All in all, Im just looking for eyeshadows that hold great color and that are not extremely pricey.

hey dude heaps easy, I've got exactly the same colouring as you so what works for me should work for you!
my favourite make up move that always picks me up is to grab a bright green, blue and purple and get to work. Start with the inside corner of your eye and work the green in towards the middle, colour the middle section of your eyelid with the blue and the outer corner with the purple. do a few layers to blend the colours together.
If you're feeling extra adventurous pick your favourite of the colours you've used and line your bottom lash line with it.
You'll look and feel amazing and if my personal experience is anything to go by you'll have all your friends asking for a demo.
oh also to make it long lasting apply it with a small lip brush that you've wet slightly before adding colour. It makes the colours brighter and stays all day.
best to keep the rest of your face neutral as nobody will be looking at anything other than your awesome eyes anyway :) hope i helped!

Bright eyeshadow is okay to wear but keep the rest of your make up simple and light, clear gloss and no blush, I think bright eyeshadow is better for night time looks.
Just wear it. It won't look tacky if you do it right. :]

they have an AMAZING 80 color eyeshadow pallet with very intense colors, i got mine about a month back and haven't used anything since! and its pretty cheap, theres a lot of vibrant colors and some neutral shades if you wanna keep it clean, ya know? =] hope this helps!

TO MAKE THEM BRIGHTER: use a light colored(such as white or very light blue) cream shadow (you can get them in a twist tube at the dollar store for like a dollar) first and then put on your regular eyeshadow.
HIP [high intesity pigments]! they have amazing eye shadow and they come in duos, very pigmented and similar to MAC. with the right base they can stay on all day.
EDIT: maxx factor does not have good eyeshadow, it's really chalky and takes a lot of effort to make the pigment show up on the eye.
Pallettes are a great way to go. you can create your own from Sally's beauty supply.com, the just snap one to the other. There are some pretty good ones at the larger Wal-Mart %26amp; K-Mart stores too. Look for Almay, Loreal Covergirl %26amp; Maybelline..
look for eyeshadows from rimmel, max factor, and the one that makes all the h.i.p. stuff i cant remember which brand it is but you'll see it at target, walgreens, etc

Who hates bright eyeshadow as much I do?
Hi guys.
I just don't like the look of super bright and funky eyeshadow to wear outside of the house. I think it is just too much and one can look like a parrot. I don't get the trend and I don't believe you need to own like 100 eyeshadows to look good. Makeup is to enhance your beauty. Sometimes bright eyeshadow makes people just see your makeup and not your eyes. Do you agree?
I think I will still to neutrals for that natural, classic look. Who hates bright eyeshadow as much I do?

I'm a MAC make up artist and I have had girls that come in for prom and they want bright, now that's the wrong place to wear bright. now to a club, its ok to an extenet. I own every mac eye shadow and eye liner color, and everyone of them looks good on someone, it just depends.Who hates bright eyeshadow as much I do?

since you are asking how to apply eyeliner, i'm guessing you are pretty young, so i am going to assume you don't want extreme makeup. i'd say wear greyish eyeliner. if you apply top eyeliner, close your eyes, hold your lashes, and start from the end opposite your nose and work your way in, tracing your lash line. for the bottom liner, start from the end opposite your nose (again) and work your way in, skimming your lashes, and stop halfway. if you don't typically wear a lot of makeup, just do the bottom. and for the top, i have blue eyes too, i would use a goldish color, try maui wowie from urban decay (at sephora). hope i helped!How to apply eye liner (plz no videos or websites) + what color eyeshadow should i use?
I think a dark brown eyeliner pencil would be good for you. And, maybe a coloured pencil in an green/teal colour to highlight the upper lash line/lid.
well hair and skin color might help, my friend has tan skin and is a blonde with blue eyes, she gets a real dark BLUE eye liner and smudges it around her eyes, i would go w/ black, gray, plum, dark green or dark brown (blue, green, and plum are if you really want to stand out, i have electric green eyes and i use dark green once in a while, looks cool and crazy)

Anyone know what make-up color/eyeshadow & blush Norah Jone's is wearing in this video?

She does look really pretty in that video. It looks like her eyeshadow is a charcoal/pewter colour, and you could put white pearly powder above it (on the brow bone) for some added glow. Her blush is a dark pink colour, like a dusty rose. I think, however, the most noticable thing about her face is that she is glowing. I think a type of luminizer would work - like Benefit's Moonbeam (http://www.sephora.com/browse/product.jh鈥?/a>
or other luminizers can be found here: (http://www.sephora.com/browse/section.jh鈥?/a>

Use dark eyeliner on the top lashes, and then a charcoal/grey colour shadow on your lids. Then black mascara. Use pink blush on the apples of your cheeks swept upwards. Then use the highlighter above where your blush is (cheekbones and up to brow bone). Then use pink shiny lipgloss.
